From Campo Marzio to via del Corso, this walking tour will make you discover a Rome that was home to Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio between 1596 and 1606. Artist and former Restorer Silvia Galgani will guide you through Caravaggio’s places, walking the streets that saw him as the protagonist of those crucial years. You’ll visit churches and see his masterpieces, while your guide will give insights on his life and art. The tour will also pass by one of his houses from the outside, ending in via della Pallacorda where the irreparable happened and he was forced to leave Rome and never return.

Silvia Galgani was born in Rome, where she graduated in painting from the “Academy of Fine Arts”. In the following years she specialized in Preservation and Restoration of paintings and she worked as restorer.She also worked as restorer at the Storti/Merlini’s studio when the restoration of one of the altar tablets of Caravaggio was in progress: The Madonna of the Pilgrims in the church of Sant’Agostino in Rome. When she restarted to paint, she decided to abandon the figurative painting, replacing reality with pure forms and a basic painting.
