The host:
Gherardo Gaetani dell'Aquila d’Aragona simply goes by Barù, a nickname given to him by his father. After graduating in history from the San Diego State University, he worked in many wineries between Italy and Australia, from Tenuta San Guido to Torbreck and in 2015 he decided to open the Barù in Bolgheri, Tuscany. Barù also carries out various consultations for restaurants, bars and hotels. He communicates food, wine and lifestyle via newspapers, television programs and on his social channels.
The Plan:
A walk from Cortina to a private family chalet in the woods, exclusively opening its doors for this experience. A local chef will teach you how to prepare canederli, bread dumplings only found in the north-east of Italy, following a traditional family recipe. Barù will welcome you to the Cason, the charming chalet full of history, with local products and wines for an authentic mountain aperitif.
